This page explains how At Home, At Peace uses personal information when you use our website or contact us.

What we collect

• Contact form: your name, phone and/or email, your pet's details if you share them, and your message.
• Phone, text or email: whatever you choose to tell us when you get in touch.
• Technical data: your IP address may be used briefly to stop the contact form being misused.
• Coverage map: our home page loads a map image from Google, so Google receives your IP address and browser information as part of that request.

We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising.

Why we use it

We use your information to answer enquiries, arrange visits, and run the practice. That is allowed under UK data protection law because:

• you are asking us about care or a visit;
• we need to reply to you and keep a short record of enquiries;
• we sometimes must keep records for veterinary or tax purposes.

Who we share it with

We use a few services to run the website and deliver messages:

• Cloudflare for the website and contact-form rate limiting.
• Mailjet to send contact-form messages to our inbox.
• Google Maps to draw the coverage-area map on our home page.
• Our email and phone providers when you contact us directly.

Some of these services may hold data outside the UK. We only use providers that protect data to UK standards.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry messages for as long as we need to reply, and usually for up to two years after that, unless care records or the law require longer. Rate-limiting data is deleted within minutes.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or object to how we use it, where the law allows. Email pet@peace.vet and we will help.

You can also complain to the ICO: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

The map on our home page

The coverage map at the foot of our home page is provided by Google Maps, and it works in two steps.

The picture. When you open our home page, your browser fetches a map image from Google. Google receives your IP address, information about your browser and device, and the address of the page you are viewing. This step is a plain image: it runs no Google software on your device and stores nothing in your browser.

The interactive map. If you click the picture to zoom and move around it, your browser then loads Google's mapping software. Only at that point may Google store cookies or similar identifiers on your device. If you never click, that never happens.

Google's use of this data is its own, described in Google's privacy policy, and may take place outside the UK. We receive nothing from Google about you, and we do not use the map for analytics or advertising.

Cookies

We set no analytics or marketing cookies of our own. The site stores two small items in your browser for the current session only: one to avoid a font flash on repeat visits, and one to stop the contact form being sent twice by mistake. Neither is used to track you here or on other sites. We also remember, in your browser only, how many times the coverage map has been opened recently, so it is not reloaded needlessly.

Google may set its own cookies or store identifiers in your browser, but only if you click the coverage map to open the interactive version, as described in the section above. The map image itself stores nothing. Google Maps is the only third-party content on this site.

Security

We protect your information as well as we can. Email is not fully private; if you prefer not to put clinical details in writing, please call us.

We will update this page when needed. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
