Meet your vet
Dr Katherine Round BVMedSci (Hons) BVM BVS MRCVS
I'm Kat, a local veterinary surgeon with over 14 years of experience caring for pets and supporting their families through every stage of life.
Throughout my career, I have worked in charity practice, private small animal clinics and veterinary settings abroad, gaining a broad range of clinical experience and a deep appreciation for the special bond between people and their pets.
As a pet owner myself, I have experienced the loss of beloved dogs and cats over the years. Where possible, I chose home euthanasia for my own pets, and I understand both professionally and personally how important a peaceful, unhurried farewell is for pets and their families.
Helping families through a pet's final chapter is a responsibility I take very seriously. My aim is to provide a calm, compassionate and supportive service, allowing pets to pass peacefully at home, surrounded by the people who love them. It is a privilege to support families through this final act of love and kindness for their cherished companions.

About
Our approach
We believe that the end of a pet's life deserves the same care, attention and dignity as every other stage of their journey.
As an independent veterinary service dedicated solely to end-of-life care, our focus is entirely on supporting pets and their families during this important time. This allows us to provide a personalised, unhurried service tailored to your pet's needs and your family's wishes.
Our goal is to create a peaceful experience in which your pet can remain relaxed and comfortable in a familiar setting, with the people who love them most close by.
Every family is different, and we will work with you to ensure the experience reflects your wishes and what feels right for you and your pet.
We will guide you through the process, give you the time and space to say goodbye, and help arrange aftercare should you wish. We work closely with trusted local independent crematoria and can discuss the options available to help you make the choice that feels right for your family.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know when it is the right time?
This is one of the most difficult decisions any pet owner will face. Every pet and family is different, and there is rarely a single "right" moment. If you are unsure about how your pet is doing or would simply like to talk things through, please get in touch. We can help assess your pet's quality of life, discuss any concerns you may have, and guide you through the options available.
How does home euthanasia work?
During the appointment, Kat will take time getting to know you and your pet, discussing the process and ensuring you feel comfortable with what will happen. There is no rush, and you will have plenty of time to say goodbye. The appointment can be as long or short as you wish.
Most pets are given a sedative first, allowing them to become relaxed and sleepy in the comfort of their own home. This is usually given as a single injection, which most pets tolerate very well, especially with plenty of reassurance, treats and cuddles. Once everyone is ready, a final injection is administered, allowing your pet to pass away peacefully and without distress.
Family members are welcome to be present if they wish, and many people find comfort in being together during their pet's final moments. Some owners also choose to have other pets present during the appointment. Every family is different, so please feel free to discuss your wishes with Kat in advance. If you have children, we can talk through how they might be involved and what feels right for your family.
Do I need to tell my regular vet?
With your permission, we will contact your usual veterinary practice before the appointment to let them know we will be visiting. Following the visit, we will also inform them of the outcome so that your pet's medical records can be updated appropriately.
What happens afterwards?
After your pet has passed away, you are welcome to spend as much time with them as you need. When you feel ready, Kat will leave to give you privacy and time with your pet.
If you wish, we can help arrange aftercare and discuss the options available, including individual cremation and a range of memorial choices. We work closely with trusted local crematoria and can guide you through everything involved.
In most cases, the crematorium will have spoken with you before the appointment and can arrange collection of your pet directly from your home. Alternatively, you may choose to take your pet to the crematorium yourself or make arrangements through your usual veterinary practice.
How much does a visit cost?
Home euthanasia visits start at £375.
This fee includes a pre-appointment consultation, an unhurried home visit, sedation where appropriate, euthanasia, communication with your regular veterinary practice, and assistance with arranging aftercare.
Cremation fees are charged separately by the crematorium.
Additional travel charges may apply for appointments outside the core service area.
Out-of-hours, evening and weekend appointments may be available by arrangement and may incur an additional fee.
What areas do you cover?
We regularly cover the New Forest and surrounding areas for home visits.
If you are outside this area, please don't hesitate to get in touch. We may still be able to help and can discuss any additional travel costs with you before arranging an appointment.
What if my pet becomes unwell outside normal working hours?
If you are concerned that your pet's condition is deteriorating and they may need urgent attention, please contact your usual veterinary practice or their emergency provider. Home euthanasia visits are arranged by appointment and may not always be available at short notice.
